Horizon 2020 is the UE Program for Research and Innovation for the 2014-2020 period.
Horizon 2020 places greater emphasis on innovation in every form and every phase, from the idea to the market and constitutes a common strategic framework for the financing of research and innovation of the European Union with the aim of multiplying private investments, creating new job opportunities and ensure long-term growth and competitiveness for Europe.
The European Commission has officially published the Horizon 2020 thematic work programs containing the new calls for research and innovation projects for a total investment of over 11 billion euros.
In particular, through the work programs (Work program), the Commission identifies the priority issues for the European Union on the basis of which to fund research projects or scientific and technological innovation. In order to achieve a more significant impact, the Commission has decided to concentrate funding on a smaller number of issues, including climate change, clean energy, plastics, cyber security and the digital economy.
