The Laboratory of Applied and Computational Biocatalysis (LACB) has more than 25 years of experience in combing synergistically enzyme-protein technologies, biocatalysis, organic chemistry and computational chemistry (bioinformatics, multivariate statistic analysis, 3D-QSAR and molecular dynamic simulations).
Enzymes, peptides and proteins are studied both experimentally and computationally for their catalytic and biological properties.
The immobilization and anchorage of enzymes/proteins is achieved through rational approaches in order to achieve optimal orientation and recognition.
In the last 2 years the group has developed
a) functionalized biocompatible polymers with tailred architectures (patented);
b) methods for optimal orientations of peptides/polymers on solid surfaces;
c) bioinformatics methods for structure-based analysis and selection of biomolecules in silico.
The group is strongly involved in international collaborations and has coordinated an EU project. The group has a long lasting experience of industrial collaborations and partnership for patenting.
